The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 12 facilities across the state, including a church, over persistent breaches of environmental regulations.
The agency disclosed this on its official X handle on Wednesday, detailing an enforcement operation carried out the previous day, Tuesday, September 22.
The sealed facilities span Ogba, Idimu-Ikota, Ejigbo, LASU-Iba Road, Igando and Agodo-Egbe, and were shut down despite prior warnings, abatement notices and chances given to bring them into compliance, LASEPA said.
According to the agency, the exercise followed directives from the Lagos State Government aimed at enforcing environmental laws, protecting public health and promoting a safer environment. It said the affected establishments had breached various environmental regulations and failed to carry out required corrective measures.
Among those sealed were Thrillz Lounge on Odusanmi Street, Ogba, over noise pollution and non-compliance; Feixiang Plastic on LASU-Ojo Road for non-compliance; and Marvel Hotel & Suites in Igando, also for noise pollution and non-compliance.
Others include Keviz Hotel & Suites on LASU-Iba Road, sealed for obstructing agency officials and non-compliance; DSN Hotel & Suites on LASU-Igando Road; and Rudaj Vegetable Oil on Igando Road, both for non-compliance.
The Celestial Church of Christ (Aduragbemi Parish) in Ikotun was sealed over noise pollution and non-compliance with LASEPA directives.
Also affected were Limas in Ikotun and Nico Hotel & Suites in Ejigbo, both sealed for non-compliance, and 10Kobo Night Club in Agodo-Egbe, cited for noise pollution and non-compliance.
Master Furniture in Idimu-Ikota and Nikky’s Executive Bar & Lounge in Ikotun were also sealed for non-compliance.
LASEPA General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, said the operation reflects the agency’s commitment to protecting public health and the environment through continuous monitoring and enforcement.
Ajayi described environmental compliance as a collective responsibility, warning that LASEPA would keep enforcing standards against individuals, businesses, religious organisations and corporate bodies whose activities threaten public health and the wellbeing of Lagos residents.
He urged business owners, facility operators, religious institutions, scrap dealers and residents to obtain the necessary permits, comply with environmental regulations and cooperate with LASEPA’s efforts to build a cleaner, healthier Lagos.
