Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has said that in nearly four decades of active involvement in Nigerian politics, he has not seen any president with a better plan for the country than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Masari made the comment in a video that circulated widely after it was shared on Facebook by Hausa-language media platform HM Arewa on Tuesday.
The former governor was reportedly speaking to a group of women at a recent public gathering in Kaduna when he expressed his strong support for Tinubu’s administration.
According to Masari, his assessment was based on his long experience in Nigerian politics and his observation of successive administrations.
“Even if I were asked to swear, on my age and my political involvement for almost 40 years, I can confidently say I have never seen a president with better plans to make Nigeria great than Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I have simply never seen anyone like him,” he said.
Masari also rejected claims that Tinubu’s administration had achieved little since taking office, arguing that similar criticisms had been directed at previous presidents.
He cited former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying that after Obasanjo began his second term in 1999, he faced accusations of tribalism and sectionalism.
Masari also referred to former President Goodluck Jonathan, who, according to him, faced similar criticism from political opponents during his time in office.
“The people who claim that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done nothing are the kind of people who never appreciate when someone is doing well,” Masari said.
He argued that some of the people criticising Tinubu were also responsible for attacking previous administrations and had continued the same pattern under the current government.
Masari further criticised what he described as the use of religious sentiments for political purposes. He questioned the tendency to associate particular faiths with specific ethnic groups, warning against the use of religion to deepen divisions among Nigerians.
The former governor urged the women to use their influence within their families and communities to discourage divisive political rhetoric ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He described those promoting such divisions for political purposes as “deeply selfish” individuals and called for greater attention to issues that could promote national unity.
