Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, fondly called Mama G, has opened up on why she has spent years portraying wicked and troublesome characters on screen.
In a video posted on her Instagram page, the actress explained that her goal was never to glorify bad behaviour, but to shine a light on issues that exist in society yet are rarely discussed openly.
Naija News reports that according to her, many of the dark themes depicted in her films mirror real-life situations that families and communities often choose to ignore or sweep under the rug.
Ozokwor said she deliberately took on such roles to bring these hidden realities to the screen, pushing viewers to confront and reflect on them rather than look away.
She added that her characters were crafted to mirror everyday situations, helping audiences see the consequences of certain actions and choices.
The veteran actress said she takes pride in the impact her work has had over the years and remains thankful to her fans for their continued support.
In her words: “I felt bold to expose the ills of society. These things happen, and nobody wants to expose them, so I’m exposing them. So I’m extremely proud of myself and Mama G lovers.”
