German automaker Mercedes-Benz has reportedly lodged a complaint with the Italian Carabinieri against Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen over an alleged unpaid debt linked to a leased vehicle.
According to reports, the company claims the Nigerian forward failed to complete payment for a car leased in 2023 and also did not return the vehicle as required. The outstanding amount is said to be around €90,000, equivalent to approximately ₦142 million.
Osimhen, one of football’s most prolific forwards, has enjoyed a highly successful career across Belgium, France, Italy, and Turkey. He famously led Napoli to a historic Serie A title and later secured another league triumph with Galatasaray, where he currently plays.
The 27-year-old is among the highest-paid players in Turkish football, earning over €20 million annually, and is widely known for his luxury lifestyle and generosity, including public acts of support for fans and family.
Despite his earnings, the report has sparked surprise within football circles given the relatively modest size of the alleged debt compared to his income.
Osimhen’s representatives have yet to issue an official response. He is expected to address the matter as attention around the report continues to grow.
