Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for 2027, Senator Solomon Adeola, has disclosed that his family stood closely by veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, in the period before his death.
Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at age 66.
In a condolence statement issued Monday, Adeola described the actor’s passing as a painful loss, revealing that his family had been directly involved in supporting Ogogo’s treatment.
He said they stood by the actor and his family during the difficult period, doing everything within their means to ensure he got proper medical care, and had remained hopeful he would recover and return to those who loved him. He added that despite those efforts, God had called him home.
The tribute, jointly signed by Adeola and his wife, Temitope Adeola, was posted on Facebook on Monday. In it, the APC candidate said Ogogo’s death was especially painful given his prolonged struggle with illness.
Adeola described Ogogo as more than just a veteran entertainer — calling him a dear brother and a proud son of Ilaro and Ogun West, whose decades-long career brought joy to generations of Nigerians and helped shape the growth of the Nigerian film industry.
He said Ogogo’s talent, humility, and body of work would keep his memory alive, and extended condolences to his wife, children, family members, and the people of Ilaro and Yewaland.
