Operatives of a Special Operations Unit of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have uncovered a large consignment of Loud, a potent strain of imported cannabis, valued at over ₦5.815 billion during a raid in Lagos State.
The seizure, which took place on May 8, 2026, was carried out at a mansion located at 36 African Lane, Lekki Phase 1, in Lagos State. A total of 2,326 kilograms of the illicit substance, packaged into about 4,000 parcels, was recovered from the property.
During the operation, officers also confiscated two Mercedes-Benz buses and various designer sachets reportedly used for repackaging the drugs for distribution.
In a related arrest on May 4, NDLEA operatives apprehended Emmanuel Osita Okeke, 38, in Nyanya Karu, Nasarawa State, with 129kg of skunk.
On May 8, another interception along the Okene–Lokoja Highway in Kogi State led to the seizure of a white J5 commuter bus heading to Abuja. A search of the vehicle uncovered 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766kg, resulting in the arrest of three suspects identified as Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa.
In a separate Lagos operation at Ijora Badia on May 6, officers raided a makeshift skuchies production site, where Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege were arrested while allegedly processing cannabis mixed with other substances. Authorities recovered 270 litres of already produced skuchies and 106 grams of Tramadol (225mg).
The agency also continued its nationwide War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaign across schools, worship centres, and communities. Recent outreach programmes were held in institutions across Nasarawa, Ekiti, Enugu, Abia, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Kano, and Oyo States, targeting students, traditional rulers, and the wider public.
