Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at his Kano State residence.
Kwankwaso received the former president alongside NDC’s Kano governorship candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo. Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Hassan, confirmed the visit, describing the meeting as cordial and marked by warm exchanges — though the agenda of the closed-door session was not disclosed.
The two leaders share a longstanding political relationship that dates to Kwankwaso’s tenure as Minister of Defence during Obasanjo’s second administration between 2003 and 2007.
In a separate development, Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) National Chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has dismissed claims that Kwankwaso purchased nomination forms from the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on ARISE Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed rejected allegations that the former Kano governor acquired 69 nomination forms to seize control of the PRP, describing the claim as false. He stressed that Kwankwaso holds no official affiliation with the party and therefore could not have purchased any such forms, adding that the person making the allegation is not a registered PRP member.
