For those conversant with the Nigeria Oil and Gas sector, the name Otunba Funso Lawal (CON), creates a redolent memory of a giant figure in Oil and Gas sector, thus, he means different meaning to different people, some regard him as an astute business man, philanthropist, a technocrat and a major player in the oil and gas sector. Otunba Funsho Lawal and Dr Godwin Ihetu are both the founder of the prestigious ‘Petroleum Club’ in Nigeria, an idea that was conceived 9years ago after the business duo visited different petroleum clubs around the world.
Otunba Funsho, is the Chairman of Sogenal Oil and Gas Limited – an independent Nigerian company and operator of the Akepo field in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 90, blessed with a good heart laced with sterling leadership qualities, Otunba Funsho holds a B.Sc and M.Sc from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. He also holds three national honour CON, OON and OFR, this shows he is really making a land mark in his chosen field, playing a pivotal role in the nations development through the Oil and Gas sector. His steadfastness and benevolent character also earned him a platform to serve as the Chairman of Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C).
Over the years, ‘The Petroleum Club’ has helped re-shaped the down stream sector and over haul the oil sector in general as its has created a platform where the industry’s professionals can come and discuss issues that has to do with the industry and also help proffers solution with feasible ideas.
The Ogbomosho born too generous money bag, was honoured with a life time merit award by ‘The Petroleum Club’ at an end of the year dinner in Metro club Lekki Lagos, The award was to appreciate him for his immense contributions for the growth of the club and the Oil and Gas sector at large. The high Octane-dinner shindig had in attendance different players of the Oil and gas sector and members of the petroleum club, the guest speaker former Access bank MD Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede never failed to mesmerize the audience with his brilliancy and speaking dexterity. In April 2017, ‘The Petroleum Club’ is getting geared up for its annual Oil and Gas conference in Houston Texas, USA.
