Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has appointed retired Major General Bala A. Isandu as the state’s new Special Adviser on Security as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s security framework.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced by the Plateau State Government on Wednesday.
Before taking up the new role, Isandu served as the Senior Special Assistant on Intelligence to the Minister of Defence. He also previously held a senior position as Director at the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), where he contributed to intelligence and national security operations.
According to the state government, the appointment is part of a broader restructuring initiative aimed at enhancing security across Plateau State, improving the protection of lives and property, and ensuring safer learning environments for schools.
During his military career, which spanned more than 30 years, Isandu participated in numerous domestic and international security operations while occupying several strategic intelligence and command positions.
Governor Mutfwang congratulated the retired military officer and other newly appointed officials, expressing confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the administration.
He urged Isandu to bring his extensive security and intelligence experience to bear in supporting the government’s efforts to build a safer, more peaceful and prosperous Plateau State.
