Accountant-General of the Federation Shamseldeen Ogunjimi appears before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee today to answer questions on the controversial ₦1.32 billion budgetary allocation to the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), a body the Federal Government has described as non-existent.
The Yusuf Gagdi-led committee wants to know how PFIPC secured a government budget code that got it into the 2026 Appropriation Act, obtained office space at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja, and received funding despite having no legal status.
Lawmakers will press Ogunjimi on the process that allowed the alleged agency into the budgetary system and how funds were subsequently released to it.
The committee has already questioned Head of Civil Service Didi Walson-Jack, CBN Director of Banking Services Abdullahi Hamisu, and Budget Office Director-General Tanimu Yakubu.
The probe gained fresh momentum after the arrest of Adeyemi Adeniyi, who allegedly posed as PFIPC’s Director-General and claimed he paid ₦400 million through an intermediary to Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to secure the appointment. The Presidency and Gbajabiamila have denied any link to Adeniyi, calling him an impostor and disowning both him and the agency.
Still expected before the panel: Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele, and Attorney-General Lateef Fagbemi.
