The name Miriam Chidiebele Olusanya might not ring so much bell but she is one of the top ladies calling the shot at Guarantee Trust Bank GTB. With her wealth of experience and expertise of over 20 years in financial related issues, financial risk management, transaction services, Treasury, Assets and Liability Management, Corporate Finance and Wholesale Banking, she has carved a niche for herself thereby steadily rising with an intimidating resume.
As an Executive Director and Head, Wholesale Banking Division of the financial powerhouse, with a deep-rooted proactive and pragmatic approach to 21st Century banking, She joined GTBank in 1998 and has been in charge of managing the bank’s Naira and Foreign Currency Balance Sheet, Asset and Liability Position and Money Market, Foreign Currency and Bonds Trading. Close sources divulged that; as Mr. Segun Agbaje, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Bank completes his tenure by the end of the year, the battle for who will succeed him as the head honcho of the bank is currently heating up. “From the list of those being considered as a possible successor of Mr. Segun; Miriam Chidiebele Olusanya is one of the most qualified in terms of exposure, qualifications, and experience.
“Influential Nigerians, shareholders, and stakeholders of the bank are being contacted and convinced to support Olusanya’s ambition. The basis of their argument is that; women are gradually holding key positions most especially with the emergence of the D.G World Trade Organization; Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and that of the MD of Fidelity Bank Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe.’’ A source told CITYSPY
The source further added that; “The only hurdle Olusanya might likely face is that of Ademola Odeyemi, who is a Non-Executive Director International Banking and Strategy. Odeyemi is also an experienced banker that joined GTBank from FCMB in 1997 and also a chartered accountant.”
