
The first democratically elected governor of Adamawa state; Alhaji Abubakar Saleh Michika gave up the ghost on Saturday night at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, as a result of a protracted unknown illness that has kept him bedridden for days.
Confirming the tragic incident is Mr Macaulay Hunohashi, the Special Adviser on Media to Gov. Muhammadu Bindow, who divulged to newsmen in an interview. He said; ”Governor Bindow, visited Michika at the hospital on Saturday, after which he got a call late night over his shocking demise.”
Born in 1941, Before Military dictators took over power in 1993, Michika was governor of Adamawa from Jan.2, 1992 to Nov.17, 1993, following the creation of Adamawa out of the defunct Gongola state by the then National Republican Convention (NRC).
The deceased will be lower to mother earth today 11th of March by 2 p.m in his hometown.
