The national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, says President Bola Tinubu has outperformed every democratically elected president in Nigeria’s history.
Morka made the claim during an interview with Channels Television on Monday, arguing that Tinubu has turned the country around to a degree that even his critics now acknowledge.
He said the Nigerian economy had been left in disarray by successive administrations before Tinubu took office.
Pressed on what specific indicators back up his comparison with past presidents, Morka insisted the results were self-evident.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has outperformed any president in his first term. He has outperformed any democratically elected president in this country in their terms,” he said.
“The indicators are res ipsa loquitur, as we say in law — they speak for themselves. This president inherited an economy that was completely in a mess.”
Morka described former President Muhammadu Buhari as a “stopgap” leader whose main achievement was preventing the country from collapsing after 16 years of what he called poor governance under the PDP.
“Buhari was a stopgap president that really came to keep the country from tipping over the precipice from 16 years of horrific maladministration of the PDP government,” he said. “President Buhari served his term, did his job to hold the country still for President Tinubu to enter.”
Morka added that Nigeria has “come out of the woods” economically, crediting the shift to policies implemented under the Tinubu administration.
