Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti has said President Bola Tinubu is not the major problem confronting Nigeria, insisting instead that the country’s judiciary bears greater responsibility for the nation’s woes.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Good News Naija podcast, Femi argued that a functional judicial system would have barred Tinubu from contesting the presidency in the first place, given the multiple allegations that have trailed him over the years.
The music icon said corruption in Nigeria runs deep, with those entrusted with leadership across virtually every sector belonging to the same corrupt elite class. He added that this systemic rot has been enough to crush the hopes of many young Nigerians.
“Do you think Tinubu is the problem? The judiciary that didn’t stop him from getting there in the first place is a problem. If all the allegations against him are true, how did he contest?” Femi said.
“If we had men and women of calibre and integrity, he wouldn’t have been able to contest in the first place.”
Femi Kuti Avoids Photo With Korra Obidi After Lagos Concert
In a separate development, Femi Kuti humorously declined to pose for pictures with celebrity dancer Korra Obidi following a live concert in Lagos.
The snub comes months after Korra Obidi sparked controversy with a twerking dance tribute at Fela Kuti’s gravesite during a visit in December 2025.
In a video Korra shared via her Instagram page on Friday, Femi Kuti was seen calling on his elder sister, Yeni Kuti, to join them for the photo, apparently to sidestep any fresh controversy.
Femi explained that he already has enough issues on his plate and has no interest in being drawn into another online row.
