President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday chaired the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja, the first since June 29, 2026.
The session opened around 2:30 pm with the national anthem after Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber.
In attendance were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Walson-Jack; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; alongside ministers, presidential aides, and heads of agencies.
Council Honours Late Ministers
The FEC observed a minute’s silence for Abubakar Alhaji, a former Minister of Finance under the Ibrahim Babangida administration, who died on July 30, 2026. The council also paid tribute to Prof Turner Isoun, former Minister of Science and Technology under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, who died on July 15, 2026.
At the last FEC meeting on June 29, Tinubu had sworn in two new Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission — Amina Gamawa (Bauchi State) and Abdullahi Mukhtar (Kaduna State) — shortly before that session began.
