The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says President Bola Tinubu’s re-election is constantly on his mind, insisting that the 2027 contest will be easier for the president than the 2023 race.
Wike made the remarks on Monday while addressing town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The former Rivers State governor said he is fully committed to securing a second term for Tinubu and called on residents of the state to turn out in large numbers to vote for the president.
“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s re-election. When I am eating, I think about the president’s re-election. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s re-election,” he said.
Wike urged Rivers people to put sentiment aside and back Tinubu, pointing to development projects the president has delivered to the state and the appointment of Rivers indigenes into key positions in his administration.
“Let us forget sentiment and vote for the person who has recognised the people of Rivers State with dividends of democracy and with several appointments,” he said.
He added: “I know the re-election of Tinubu in 2027 will be easier than that of 2023. We should appreciate Tinubu and ensure he gets a massive number of votes. We can do it.”
