Thousands of residents in Eti-Osa, Lagos State, have thrown their weight behind President Bola Tinubu, Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and Lagos Assembly Majority Leader Noheem Adams ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement took place during a political gathering attended by members of the Central Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eti-Osa, led by Engr. Murphy Adetoro, who is also a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC).
Chairmen of the three local government areas in Eti-Osa Constituency I, APC ward leaders, traditional rulers, and representatives of the Lekki Residents Association were also present at the event. The groups had earlier adopted Adams as the APC consensus candidate for the constituency.
Speaking during the rally, APC leaders reaffirmed their support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition and declared that there would be “no vacancy” at both the Presidency and the Eti-Osa Assembly seat. They also backed Hamzat as the preferred successor to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The party leaders expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure victory in Lagos State in 2027, noting that residents had become more united in their support for the President since the 2023 elections.
Adetoro praised the turnout at the event and disclosed that APC stakeholders across the constituency had officially endorsed Adams ahead of the party primaries.
According to him, the gathering served as a preview of the level of support Adams would receive during the APC primary election.
He said the endorsement was based on Adams’ performance in the Lagos State House of Assembly, adding that party leaders believed he had exceeded expectations in office.
Former lawmaker Yahaya Dosunmu also commended the growing support for Adams, expressing optimism that the next Speaker of the Lagos Assembly could emerge from Eti-Osa.
He described the crowd at the rally as a reflection of the lawmaker’s popularity and influence within the constituency.
President of the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA), Alhaji Sulyman Bello, said Adams had become a strong voice for residents across Eti-Osa and beyond.
Bello recalled how the lawmaker intervened to stop the demolition of an estate in the area, adding that his experience in the Assembly made him deserving of higher responsibilities.
He further confirmed that the association had earlier submitted a letter to the APC leadership endorsing Adams for re-election.
Meanwhile, members of the Arewa community in the constituency also pledged support for the lawmaker, revealing that over 1,500 members from the three councils in the area had been mobilised for his campaign.
In his response, Adams appreciated party leaders, traditional rulers, and residents for their confidence in him, describing the endorsement as motivation to deliver more dividends of democracy if re-elected.
He also commended President Tinubu for initiating the coastal road project in the constituency, saying the development had increased public support for the President in the area.
