Family sources confirmed his death in Sokoto to Channels Television, after a prolonged illness.
Aliyu served as deputy governor under former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari from 2007 to 2015.
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris mourned him in a statement by his media adviser, Yahaya Sarki, calling his death a painful loss to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State and the nation.
Idris described Aliyu as one of the state’s most respected leaders, citing his humility, honesty and record of service both as a career civil servant and as deputy governor.
The governor said Aliyu’s contributions would continue to inspire future generations, and prayed for his forgiveness and admission into Aljannatul Firdaus.
He extended condolences to the family, the Yauri Emirate and the people of Kebbi State.
