President Bola Tinubu will present the 2027 budget proposal to the National Assembly before the end of this year, the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, has announced.
Uzoka-Anite made the disclosure on Wednesday while speaking to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which Tinubu chaired at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“We are working on the 2027 budget, and our intention is to present it before the end of the year,” she said.
The minister, however, did not give a specific date for the presentation.
Meanwhile, the Budget Office has tightened documentation requirements for ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) seeking personnel cost allocations in the 2027 budget.
In a circular dated September 4, 2026, the office directed all MDAs to submit their personnel cost proposals along with copies of their establishment Acts.
The circular, signed by the Director-General of the Budget Office, Tanimu Yakubu, makes the documents mandatory for agencies seeking such provisions. The measure follows the government’s discovery of some fictitious agencies.
Under the directive, the Budget Office will verify the legal status of each agency before releasing funds for its personnel costs.
It also bars any agency not captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) or the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) from receiving personnel cost provisions in the 2027 budget.
