The Oyo State-born First Class Accounting graduate from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has, since his appointment as the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), been actively redefining the agency. He has ensured that the country meets its revenue targets by blocking loopholes that would otherwise lead to revenue loss. While he has received praise from critical stakeholders for his commitment and his innovative, technology-driven solutions to tax matters, he continues to strive for more sustainable solutions to fulfill the agency’s core mandate.
One of his most recent feats is the transition of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to the NRS, a smooth transition confirmed by stakeholders as a brilliant and robust transformation in history. The agency maintained and deepened its core mandate while retaining its identity. Some agency watchers disclosed that the transition was adjudged the best, as stakeholders quickly adapted to the new framework and are now even more comfortable paying taxes without being served.
To achieve these numerous goals, the opening of the NRS’s official headquarters in the Central Business District of Abuja on the 14th of April by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu further cemented Zacch’s place in history. Although the building was approved and construction began over 16 years ago, within just 30 months, Adedeji ensured that the 16-storey structure adds a beautiful view to the Abuja skyline. At the launch, those who saw the finishing disclosed that Zacch is a man of taste who understands that tax collection requires a more comfortable atmosphere one that drives productivity and enhances national development.
