President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to formally receive the All Progressives Congress (APC) certificate of return and party flag on Sunday, officially confirming him as the ruling party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The investiture ceremony will hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, following the nationwide collation of results from the APC presidential primary. Presidential Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the event in a statement on Saturday, noting that APC governors, National Executive Committee members, National Working Committee officials, federal lawmakers, and senior party figures are all expected to attend.
Tinubu secured the ticket after defeating his sole challenger, Osifo Osayamen Stanley, in a direct primary conducted across all states of the federation. The ceremony formalises what the collated results have already established — that the incumbent president will fly the APC flag into the next election cycle.
Earlier on Saturday, Tinubu cast his vote at the Ikoyi-Obalende Ward L2 polling unit in Lagos State, where he spoke positively about how the exercise was conducted. He described the primaries as evidence that the APC is deepening internal democracy by giving every card-carrying member a genuine role in the party’s decision-making process.
The President commended party members for maintaining order throughout the exercise and praised governors and officials across various states for managing delegate accreditation, membership registration, and other electoral activities in a professional manner. He maintained that the smooth conduct of the primaries — from ward to local government level — reflects a maturing democratic culture within the party.
