Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi has stirred fresh debate over the long-standing rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo after jokingly advising people to be cautious about doing business with anyone who insists Ronaldo is a better footballer than Messi.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Bovi suggested that a person’s opinion on the Messi-Ronaldo debate could reveal how they interpret reality, making it a humorous “test” before entering into a business partnership.
The comedian explained that there is nothing wrong with someone choosing Ronaldo as their favourite player or even regarding him as the Greatest of All Time (GOAT). However, he argued that confidently claiming Ronaldo is a better footballer than Messi should raise concerns.
According to Bovi, anyone planning to invest with a new business partner should first ask who their favourite footballer is.
He said if the person simply chooses Ronaldo or calls him the GOAT, there is no issue. But if they insist Ronaldo is a better footballer than Messi, they should reconsider the partnership.
Bovi further claimed that people who hold such an opinion may have a tendency to ignore or reshape facts to fit their personal beliefs, adding that this mindset could extend beyond football discussions into business decisions.
His remarks have since generated widespread reactions on social media, with football fans once again divided over the enduring Messi-Ronaldo rivalry, widely regarded as one of the greatest debates in football history.
