Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has alleged that the Federal Government sponsored counter-protesters to disrupt the recent #EndInsecurity demonstrations held across the country.
The musician, whose real name is Folarin Falana, made the claim after participating in the nationwide protest staged three days ago to draw attention to rising insecurity, kidnappings, and violent attacks in several parts of Nigeria.
The protest, which took place in different states, attracted prominent figures including human rights lawyer Femi Falana, activist Omoyele Sowore, and Falz himself.
Speaking in a video shared on Instagram over the weekend, Falz alleged that supporters of President Bola Tinubu mobilised and paid groups of counter-protesters, many of whom he claimed were women.
Expressing concern over the country’s security challenges, the singer said the situation was becoming increasingly alarming and called for urgent action to secure the release of victims still being held captive.
According to him, the demonstration was organised to highlight unresolved cases of abductions and attacks in several communities, including incidents in Oyo, Kwara, and Borno states where victims remain missing or in captivity.
Falz warned that insecurity could affect anyone if decisive measures are not taken, stressing that Nigerians have continued to grapple with rising living costs while also facing threats to their safety.
He urged authorities to intensify efforts to end insecurity and secure the freedom of all abducted persons, describing the current situation as a critical moment for the nation.
