Nollywood actor Owolabi Ajasa, popularly known as “Ta Lo Pa Chief,” has debunked rumours of his death that went viral on social media.
An obituary poster announcing the actor’s demise had circulated online, sparking widespread concern among fans.
Reacting via a video on his Instagram page, Ajasa dismissed the reports, insisting he is alive and in good health. The actor, known for his recurring police roles in Nollywood films, also warned that those spreading the false news would suffer the same fate they wished on him.
He said, “Good day everyone, my name still remains Owolabi Ajasa, your Nollywood police officer. I want to tell all my fans both in Nigeria and abroad that I’m still much alive. I’m alive, hale and hearty. There’s nothing wrong with me. To everyone posting my obituary around, I’m saying back to the sender, to you and your family.”
In related entertainment news, veteran actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, has disclosed that he nearly quit acting following the death of his mentor.
The 73-year-old actor made the revelation in a recent interview with Feel Right News TV, recounting the emotional toll of losing his mentor, Ojo Ladipo (Baba Mero), in 1978. Seven years later, Baba Mero’s wife also died, deepening his grief.
Salami said the back-to-back tragedies exposed him to malicious rumours at the time, with some falsely accusing him of being responsible for both deaths.
