The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has again increased the pump price of petrol at its filling stations in Abuja.
Findings show that NNPCL outlets in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, including Gwarampa and Wuse Zones 4 and 6, are now selling Premium Motor Spirit at ₦1,345 per litre, up from the previous ₦1,270 — a jump of ₦75.
A staff member at one of the affected stations confirmed the new price took effect on Monday, saying the adjustment had just been implemented that day.
The hike follows similar increases by independent marketers, including MRS, Ranoil and Empire Energy, who raised their pump prices by between ₦20 and ₦80 over the weekend.
The wave of price adjustments was triggered by Dangote Refinery, which raised its ex-depot (gantry) price by ₦65 to ₦1,265 per litre.
The increases come amid growing concern over Nigeria’s rising dependence on imported petrol. Dangote Refinery had earlier threatened to restrict sales to importers and marketers following a spike in fuel imports. Figures from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) show that imported petrol made up 43.3 per cent of total national supply in July.
