The Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) have commended President Bola Tinubu for what they described as significant developmental strides across Northern Nigeria, saying his administration has fulfilled key campaign promises to the region.
This was contained in a statement issued over the weekend by the group’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, following a media tour of Federal Government projects across the North-West in collaboration with the Presidential Media Team.
The tour, which covered areas from Zuba Junction in the Federal Capital Territory through Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, and Kebbi States, was organised to assess ongoing infrastructure and intervention projects under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The RHA dismissed claims that the Tinubu administration had neglected the North, insisting that numerous projects are currently ongoing or nearing completion across the region.
According to the group, the Federal Government has initiated about 260 Special Intervention Projects nationwide through the Ministry of Works, with 48 of them located in the North-West zone, which includes Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States.
It described this as the highest concentration of such projects across all geopolitical zones, adding that it reflects the administration’s commitment to regional development and infrastructure renewal.
During the inspection tour, the delegation observed ongoing work on the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway, including sections featuring reinforced concrete pavement and solar-powered streetlights. The 82-kilometre Section 1 from Zuba Junction to beyond Jere was reported to be nearly completed, with only a small segment remaining, while Section 2 is already underway. Completion is scheduled for November this year.
In Kaduna State, the team inspected the Kaduna Western Bypass project, which had been abandoned for over two decades but is now about 50 percent completed, with assurances that funding is not a constraint.
The group also highlighted the Kaduna–Kano–Katsina–Maradi railway project, describing it as a major transnational infrastructure linking Nigeria with Niger Republic to boost trade, agriculture, and regional mobility. A flyover linked to the rail corridor is expected to be completed by December 2026.
At the Kano end of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano expressway, work was said to be about 95 percent completed. The delegation also visited several key projects, including developments at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital such as a Cardiovascular Centre, Pediatric Centre, and student hostels linked to constituency interventions.
Other sites inspected included a N27 billion irrigation project in Garko, ecological intervention projects under the Energy Commission of Nigeria, and a 10-hectare agricultural incubation centre at Bayero University, Kano, constructed by NASENI to support modern farming innovation.
In addition, the team visited the headquarters of the North-West Development Commission in Kano, one of the regional development agencies established by the current administration.
They also inspected a N47 billion ecological erosion control project in the Wujuwuju–Jakara area, originally initiated by the Kano State Government but later taken over by the Federal Government.
In Jigawa State, officials confirmed that the Jigawa segment of the Kaduna–Kano–Katsina–Maradi railway project is nearly completed.
In Kebbi State, work on sections of the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway (Phases 2A and 2B) is progressing steadily, with site clearing, earthworks, and pavement construction ongoing. About 19 kilometres of concrete pavement and street lighting have already been completed, with completion levels put at 40 percent for Section 2A and 16 percent for Section 2B.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors concluded that, based on the scale and spread of ongoing projects, the North is witnessing unprecedented infrastructure development under the Tinubu administration.
They urged critics to visit project sites for verification, insisting that claims of neglect are politically motivated and not reflective of realities on ground.
