Olufon of Ifon, Oba Adegoke Adeusi might have gone to join
his ancestors as he was gruesomely murdered on Thursday the 26th of
November by suspected kidnappers on his way back from the Ondo State Council of
Oba’s meeting at the State Government House to his kingdom along Elegbeka road,
Akure but not many things were knew about his last moment before he was assassinated.
According to sources close to the late monarch, averred
that; “Kabiyesi was returning from a council meeting for all traditional monarch
in Ondo state at the state Government house, when the ugly incident occurred. When
he sauntered into the meeting, he was fitted in one of his white and gold most
flashy royal outfit like ever before. He was looking dapper, elegant and
different like it was his birthday, or he was hosting a memorable occasion. He was
also decked in a colorful royal bead with a gold necklace. He did not go unnoticed.
He was just like the proverbial goldfish in the meeting, there was no hiding
place for him. Other Monarch in attendance made positive comments of his
dressing. He played and cracked jokes with everyone as he was cheerful all through
the duration of the meeting. As the meeting was winding up, he quickly told the
council presiding Chairman that; he was going to leave early because he needed
to catch an urgent appointment at the Palace. After the council meeting, the
Governor was supposed to address the Oba’s, but he did not wait. Some of his
colleagues persuaded him to chill till the end of the meeting but he refused
vehemently, reiterated that; how urgent and important the meeting was. The council
chairman released him, so he left immediately with his royal entourage. We did
not know that was going to be the last time we would get to see him. His death
is a colossal loss to Ondo state. He had series of plans for his people and he
has always been on the Governors neck to facilitate developmental project to
his kingdom.’’
