The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed the 2026 Batch B orientation course for prospective corps members posted to Niger State due to ongoing renovation work at its orientation camp in Paiko.
The scheme explained that the decision became necessary after the camp sustained significant damage from a recent windstorm, prompting the Niger State Government to commence rehabilitation of the facility.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations of the NYSC, Caroline Embu. She noted that the current condition of the camp makes it unsuitable to host the orientation exercise as originally scheduled.
According to the statement, NYSC management is making urgent efforts to secure an alternative venue where the affected prospective corps members can undertake their orientation programme.
The scheme assured those affected that a new date for the exercise, along with details of the alternative location, would be announced once arrangements are finalized.
Prospective corps members were advised to rely on official NYSC communication channels for updates and further instructions.
The NYSC also emphasized that it is committed to ensuring the orientation programme takes place in a safe and conducive environment.
While expressing regret over the postponement, the management acknowledged the inconvenience the development may cause prospective corps members and their families, assuring them that updates will be provided as soon as plans for the new venue and commencement date are concluded.
