A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and four other political parties for failing to meet constitutional performance benchmarks.
Justice Peter Lifu gave the order on Monday while ruling on a suit filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/2026.
The judge held that the affected parties had persistently failed to satisfy the thresholds required under the constitution to remain registered.
Besides the ADC, the other parties ordered to be deregistered are the Action Peoples Party, Action Alliance, Accord Party and the Zenith Labour Party.
