Canada-based Nigerian cleric Prophetess Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue has publicly apologised to her husband, Franklin Chimaobim Nwanorue, after facing severe backlash for celebrating the death of his mother -In-Law, Comfort Chika Nwanorue, on Facebook.
In a video addressed directly to her husband, Ezinne expressed remorse for targeting his late mother online.
“I am making this video to apologise to my husband; I should not have done that. I am apologising for what I did, and I know and hope my husband forgives me for that,” she said. “Honey, I am very sorry for posting your mother on Facebook. And I ask for forgiveness, thank you so much.”
The apology follows a post in which Ezinne shared a funeral banner of her late mother-in-law, calling her a “wicked witch” and declaring that she would “rest in pieces in hell.” In the post, she claimed to be fighting witches and wizards on behalf of God, warned that “members” of the deceased would “soon join you,” and said she was in her “season of manifestation.” She signed off as “Prophetess of God Almighty.”
The post drew widespread condemnation online, with many criticising her for celebrating a family member’s death.
The couple had previously gone viral after Ezinne made her husband’s relocation to Canada conditional on him swearing a fidelity oath on camera. In that clip, Franklin agreed to the terms, saying he would accept death “in the name of Jesus” if he cheated after moving. Ezinne later accused him on Facebook of breaking that oath.
