The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ends today, and it is urging eligible Nigerians to register or update their details before time runs out.
INEC said on X that the exercise covers new registration, transfer of registration, correction of personal details, and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Time is running out, but there’s still an opportunity to make your voice count,” the commission said. “Register to vote or update your voter information before the close of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) today, Sunday, 26 July 2026.”
INEC asked eligible Nigerians to complete registration through its online CVR portal or visit any state or local government office before the deadline. Participation is mandatory for anyone planning to vote in next year’s general election.
The commission had extended the nationwide registration exercise by two weeks in July to accommodate more registrants ahead of the 2027 polls.
CVR began in August 2025 with online pre-registration, followed by physical registration later that month. By December, when the first phase ended, INEC had recorded 2,572,054 completed registrations — 1,503,832 online and 1,068,222 in-person.
The second phase ran from January 5 to April 17 and added 3,748,704 registrations nationwide. The third phase started in May and closed today.
