Veteran Nigerian singer SkyB has expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of support from newer artistes who emerged from Port Harcourt after him, including global star Burna Boy.
Speaking during a recent interview on the KAA Truth podcast, SkyB said he played a key role in promoting the Port Harcourt music scene in its early days and supported several artistes at the time, including Mr 2Kay and Timaya.
According to him, despite his earlier contributions, he now feels abandoned as his career has slowed down, while those he once supported have gone on to achieve greater success.
SkyB specifically mentioned Burna Boy, saying he expected recognition and possible support from him and others in the industry, either through collaboration or financial assistance to help revive his music career.
He also recounted an incident where, according to him, an artiste declined an opportunity to share a stage with him, which he viewed as a sign of disrespect from some colleagues.
SkyB said he had invested heavily in developing the Port Harcourt music space and believes more established stars from the region should acknowledge and support those who helped lay the foundation.
