Popular Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality TV star and comedian, Aderombi Adedayo Martins, popularly known as DeeOne, has emerged as the House of Assembly candidate of the BOOT Party for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I in Lagos State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
DeeOne clinched the party’s ticket after winning the BOOT Party primary election, positioning himself for a shot at representing the constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Reacting to his victory, the entertainer expressed gratitude to members of the party for entrusting him with the mandate. In a message shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday night, he described the outcome of the primary election as a strong vote of confidence in his ability to serve the people of Ibeju-Lekki.
“I want to thank my party, BOOT Party, for the confidence in voting for me to emerge winner of the primary election for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I,” he wrote.
DeeOne also pledged to remain committed to the interests of the people if elected in 2027, assuring constituents that he would approach public service with humility and dedication.
Addressing residents of the constituency, he said, “By the grace of God, come 2027, I will be your worker and not your boss.”
His emergence adds to the growing list of entertainers making moves into Nigeria’s political space as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually gather momentum.
The development comes just days after Nollywood actress and producer Esther Okereke emerged as the presidential candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) for the 2027 election.
Okereke secured the party’s ticket after defeating former Labour Party presidential aspirant Joseph Faduri and UK-based businessman Ademola Onigbokun during the NRM presidential primary held in Abuja.
Her victory places her among the few women in Nigeria’s democratic history to secure a presidential ticket from a political party. She is expected to join other opposition candidates seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in what is already shaping up to be a fiercely contested 2027 presidential race.
Speaking during her presentation as the party’s flag bearer, NRM National Chairman Chinedu Obi said the party was committed to providing Nigerians with leadership capable of addressing the nation’s economic and security challenges.
